Current positions/contracts on offer with Bay Bush Action

Ngahere Recovery Enabler

A very special opportunity to contract for a charitable organisation that is all about the forest.

Bay Bush Action’s vision is the restoration of the natural biodiversity of Ōpua Forest. This role is diverse, with design and planning along with physical work, and, carries with it, the requirement for people and project management.

You will not get bored! You will actively contribute to the rebuild of a diverse forest ecosystem in the new 1500 hectare target area in Ōpua Forest. You will supervise a range of pest control kaimahi, and be responsible for enabling that team to deliver on best-practice pest control. You will also be confident with GIS software and ground-truthing - to design and supervise lines being cut and stations placed in optimal positions by kaimahi. The role also includes the organisation of bait delivery based on monitoring and the design and review of health and safety plans along with contracts and tender descriptions.

At this stage it is a 12-month contract position (with possibility of a further 6-12 month extension) based on 10-15 hours per week (by agreement) at $50p/h. The role is focused on the new, expanded area of the forest and is funded by the Department of Conservation’s Jobs For Nature.

What's in it for you?

A flexible role that balances design and management with physical implementation. You get to lead but also roll your sleeves up and get into the bush.

There’s an opportunity to create your own work schedule, exercise your skills in GIS design and work with a passionate group of “doers” who are all about the forest.
