Current positions/contracts on offer with Bay Bush Action

Request For Tenders

A very special opportunity to contract to a charitable organisation that is all about the forest.

Are you super-fit, qualified and skilled in chain sawing and/or scrub bar work and have a team the same? This job is ideally for a small team of two-four people with a requirement to be physically fit and the ability to cut walking lines closely to pre-identified GPSed tracks over rugged terrain. There is an option to install bait stations as part of the contract.

Bay Bush Action’s vision is the restoration of the natural biodiversity of Ōpua Forest. You will actively contribute to the rebuild of a diverse forest in a 217 hectare block in Ōpua Forest. The tracks are to be used by other contractors and volunteers who will be helping protect and regenerate the forest’s ecosystems and the tracks will be cut with others’ needs in mind.

Before beginning, you will need current certification and sign-off if using chainsaws and ideally have experience in track cutting to DOC standard along with H&S plans. You will also need to have sign-off for any scrub bar work from the Department of Conservation, along with you and your team having a current First Aid Training certificate – or negotiate with BBA to have this paid for as part of your contract.

Timeframes

We are aiming for the completion of the work by the start of September 2022, in time for the manu breeding season. The role is focused in the new, expanded area Bay Bush Action manages in the southern part of Ōpua forest and is funded by the Department of Conservation’s Jobs For Nature.

What's in it for you and your team?

A flexible role paid on a per-kilometer-cut and per-bait-station-installed basis to the required standard.

There is an opportunity to create your own work schedule, exercise your skills in GPS, chainsaw and scrub bar use and work with a passionate group of “doers” who are all about the forest.

I'm interested, but only want to be a team member...

Please let us know you if you are keen to work in a team rather than manage one. We may have teams needing members who we can connect you with.
